Over the years Matt has started hundreds of young horses. He instills from the very beginning, a confidence in his horses that is obvious to those who ride them. The partnership between horse and rider is built from a foundation of cooperation rather than submission. Matt prefers the term "Confidence Building," over "Desensitization." His approach to training a young horse is based on creating a confident partner who understands how to handle stressful situations. Matt's technique produces quality horses which have a very correct understanding of the basics as well as a learned concept to trust their rider.

Extreme Mustang Makeover....

In 2014 Matt participated in the Extreme Mustang Makeover. This program aims to increase the adoption of wild horses held by the Bureau of Land Management. Participants are given 100 days to take on and train these wild mustangs before competing in a series of classes (handling, pattern, combined leading, riding and freestyle). All horses are available for public adoption at the conclusion of the competition and of course Matt adopted his mustang known as Dillon.
